Duna

Duna

Duna collection for Vibia.
The collection is all about the delicate, natural washi paper and a warm, functional light.

The washi paper was early in the process chosen for it’s materiality - the lightness, the soft, natural appearance that distribute the light beautifully through the shade and brings warmth to the surrounding space.
The light source is constructed to at the same time give a functional, direct downlight.

I wanted the washi shade to be the main character in the design. A subtle, shallow shade allowing the rough edges to
stand out as they are, au naturel.
The rest of the design, the lightweight stems, pendant cords and opal glass bases are all wished to be 'almost ’nothing’ visually, just lifting and holding the lightweight paper shade.
The glass base versions have an additional feature of being double controlled: The light intensity in the shade and base can be individually dimmed to your own preference and mood.

I like the balance Duna has of being technical and natural, at the same time.

The best light is in my opinion where you sense the atmosphere the light creates, more than the actual lamp itself.

The name Duna refers to the soft, subtle curves found in dune landscapes.
